In the face of adversity, heroes emerge. This is the story of a young man named Gajendra, who faced a life-changing train accident. Both his legs and private parts were severed, leaving him in dire need of a skin graft. With no available donors in his family, hope seemed distant. Enter a group of selfless individuals from the Sumit Foundation team, led by an unwavering spirit. When skin donation seemed like the only option, two team members stepped forward, willing to give their own skin. The determination to make a difference was undeniable. The journey took them to the Orange City Hospital and Research Institute in Nagpur, the fourth skin bank in the country and the first in Central India. There, with great dedication, they secured the vital skin graft. In a race against time, they embarked on a journey back to Bilaspur, facing traffic and uncertainty. The temperature-controlled box containing the precious skin was their responsibility, and they knew the stakes were high.
view postAmidst the uncertainty and helplessness, Sumit Foundation's founder had discussions with Mr. Ashutosh Tripathi, the Director of Krishna Public School (KPS). They shared the heavy burden of witnessing the suffering around them, of not having control over the lives lost, and of people unable to afford medical care. In those moments of despair, they decided to make a difference. When the laborer colleagues needed transport during the lockdown, Ashutosh Tripathi and KPS offered buses without hesitation, asking, "What more can we do to help?" It was a silent act of kindness, one of many by organizations that chose to step forward when others hesitated. This year, as COVID seemed under control, they had another conversation. When Sumit mentioned the need for an ambulance to save more lives, Ashutosh Tripathi made a quick decision. The very next day, a life-saving ambulance arrived. This Advanced Life Support ambulance was dedicated to those in need through Sumit Foundation. In a world where uncertainty still looms, they continue their preparations, ensuring that no one is left behind. The partnership between Sumit Foundation and KPS Raipur, led by Ashutosh Tripathi, stands as a testament to the power of compassion and action. With not one but two Advanced Life Support ambulances now in service, they remind us that even in the darkest times, small efforts can make a significant impact. The danger may not be over, but with continued dedication, everything will indeed get better.
view postHer father did not survive, leaving her mother to raise Viral and her brother with unwavering care and determination. As Viral grew, she came to understand her mother's relentless struggles. When she was diagnosed with a serious brain tumor, Viral faced her illness with remarkable resilience. She was determined to recover swiftly and pursue her dreams, focusing not on her own pain but on the well-being of her family. For years, Viral and her family had faced trials that seemed insurmountable, yet they found moments of happiness amidst the challenges. Viral's infectious positivity and love for applying henna became a source of joy for her and those around her. Amidst the darkness, Viral's call for help reached the Sumit Foundation, and they spared no effort in providing healthcare and essential aid. In her final letter, she expressed her heartfelt aspiration - to become a Deputy Collector. Her dreams were a reflection of her unwavering spirit, and she had hoped to provide a better life for her family. Despite her prolonged stay at Raipur AIIMS, Viral's departure left a void in the hearts of those who knew her. She was a fighter, and her legacy lives on in the hearts of those she touched. Her dreams remain incomplete, but the promise to fulfill them endures. The call to help those in need echoes in her memory, reminding us all that we have the power to make a difference. Viral's journey serves as a poignant reminder that when someone comes before us with hope,we have the capacity to extend a helping hand, to make a lasting impact, and to keep their dreams alive.
view postTheir family, including their 10-year-old daughter, faced the financial strain of post-transplant medication. Babulal's monthly salary of Rs. 7,000 was barely enough to cover the recurring cost of medicines amounting to Rs. 6,000. His brother tried to offer some financial support, but it remained insufficient, leaving the family in dire circumstances. That's when we Sumit Foundation stepped in, and offered him not just financial support but a lifeline of hope. Every month, we make sure and ensures Babulal received his crucial medications on time. In a heartfelt effort to alleviate their struggles, a plan emerged. They needed a stable source of income to sustain themselves. The idea was to secure a permanent stall in Durg-Bhilai, where they could set up their own shop. The hope was to gain support from the Durg Municipal Corporation and the Collector's administration for the space. Until their family achieved self-sufficiency, the responsibility of their daughter's education was shouldered by compassionate individuals. This story embodies the power of unity and kindness, offering not just financial assistance but also a renewed sense of hope and possibility.
view postThe child's family, unknown to many, belonged to a modest background, unable to afford the expenses of an air ambulance. With limited information, a small WhatsApp group formed, comprising both familiar faces and strangers, who were united in their shared goal. The situation was dire: a child, far from home, diagnosed with a serious kidney condition, urgently requiring transport to Delhi by air ambulance. The group brainstormed tirelessly, fueled by a common purpose - to ensure the child's betterment. Among the group members were those who tirelessly worked towards the cause. Ultimately, through the private contributions of a few generous individuals, arrangements were made for the crucial air ambulance. The child was airlifted to Delhi, a major triumph for his life. However, upon arrival at Delhi's AIIMS, a new challenge emerged. Initially, admission was refused due to administrative rules. But the community's unwavering spirit and the arrival of a dedicated volunteer changed the course. The child underwent a COVID test, and soon after, the heartening news arrived - admission to Delhi AIIMS was secured. For two intense days, collective efforts never ceased. At the eleventh hour, hope prevailed. Contacts were established with AIIMS management, providing crucial patient information and facilitating the transfer. Such situations call for meticulous preparation. Patient reports should be readily available, and communication between boarding and destination hospitals is vital. Seek assistance through connections or crowd-funding for an air ambulance, and keep contact numbers of authorities on hand. As the child was admitted, applying for assistance from state or national funds was crucial. The lesson here is clear - in times of crisis, never hesitate to seek help, for a united front can conquer even the gravest challenges.

Pushpa, widowed at a young age, works as a domestic helper to make ends meet, while Gaukaran relies on the kindness of neighbors. Colleagues Pratiksha Chauhan and Anita Agrawal played a vital role in connecting Pushpa and Gaukaran to Sumit Foundation. This young boy spent his days crawling on the floor, and the challenges for this single mother were more than meets the eye. Sumit Foundation generously provided him with a wheelchair. Remember, small acts of kindness can create significant change. Take the time to get to know the people in your daily life; you might uncover opportunities to help them. With the blessings of compassionate individuals like Mukesh Agrawal in Durg, Gaukaran's journey is now on a hopeful path. Together with experienced doctors, efforts are underway to explore therapies like calipers to help him walk. Pushpa Ji also inquired about schools in Raipur, Chhattisgarh, where children like Gaukaran receive education and training. If you have information about such schools, please share. And if you're willing to lend a hand in the future, reach out. Because sometimes, it's the smallest gestures that make the biggest difference.

view postA month ago, a phone call introduced me to Viral, but today, I met her in person for the first time. As we chatted, her smile lit up the room. Viral hails from a Gujarati family, and her life's journey has been marked by challenges. The devastating 2001 Gujarat earthquake took her father's life, leaving her mother to play both parental roles. In 2018, during her college studies, Viral began experiencing head heaviness, blurred vision, and double vision. A medical examination revealed a brain tumor, necessitating urgent surgery at Nagpur's Higher Center. Her resilient mother, with some savings and society's help, arranged the expensive surgery. Post-surgery, Viral supported her brother's education by working as a henna artist, but her health issues interrupted even this. Recently, Viral learned that another tumor is developing at the same site, raising the prospect of another surgery. While undergoing therapy at AIIMS Raipur, she remains determined and unbroken. Her dream? To become a Deputy Collector, as she states in her letter to me. Despite hardships, Viral's faith in a brighter future never wavers. Her younger brother, an accountant, also faces health challenges. Together, they hold onto hope. So, can we support Viral on her journey to become a Deputy Collector? Your effort will not only change her life but also contribute to a brighter future for society.
view postAs moments passed, it became clear that urgent action was needed, and waiting for an ambulance might take too long. So, without hesitation, my colleague and I decided to transport them to a nearby hospital on my motorcycle. Getting them seated was no easy task, especially with an unconscious person in the middle. But there was no time to waste. My colleague secured their bike, and I set off with the two passengers. During the journey, the young man's condition worsened, and the challenges became apparent as he became ill. Still, my focus remained on getting him the help he needed. This incident made me reflect on the prevailing fear of COVID-19 and why people sometimes hesitate to act in emergencies. It also raised questions about substance abuse and the efficiency of our emergency response system. Despite facing misbehavior and resistance, I've learned not to waver in moments like these. I've witnessed the consequences of hesitation and the dire need for immediate assistance. The incident reminded me of a fateful day in 2015 when my younger brother, Sumit, faced a cardiac arrest in the street. I desperately called for help, but it felt like no one would assist us. Sadly, the ambulance arrived too late, and that day remains etched in my memory. So, let's remember not to hesitate when a life depends on our actions. Every effort, no matter how small, can make a significant difference.

view postBagdor, the dedicated team at the helm, is tirelessly working towards this noble cause. A day will soon dawn when you can save a life by sharing the gift of your organs. This initiative isn't just about providing hope; it's about saving lives. Chhattisgarh's current policy only allows organ transplants from family donors. But with the introduction of organ donation, the availability of organs for those in need will soar. But here's the key: public participation will be the driving force. A single brain-dead individual can potentially save up to nine lives. The recently concluded five-day workshop organized by the National Organ and Transplant Organization (NOTTO) at Raipur Medical College was a step in the right direction. It provided invaluable insights into organ donation and transplant procedures, drawing wisdom from renowned doctors across the nation. We are thrilled to announce that we will soon serve as an organ transplant coordinator alongside our dedicated team. Together, we aim to make a lasting impact. Visit your nearest government hospital and complete the necessary forms to become a donor. The choice is yours: leave a legacy or keep someone's heart beating. I've shared my decision with my family and close friends; now, it's your turn. Be the beacon of hope in someone's life.
view postOne day, a desperate call came from a young girl, pleading for help to transport her ailing parents to the hospital. We rushed to her aid, only to find her brother unwilling to assist due to COVID-19 fears. He insisted it wasn't his responsibility. As we argued, we reached their home, but the parents refused to leave. We tried everything to convince them, but they remained obstinate. We left in disbelief, but the girl's tearful plea later brought us back. Miraculously, her parents had finally agreed to go to the hospital. We rushed to their home again, only to discover an empty house. The girl was unaware of their whereabouts, leaving us bewildered. Frustrated, we left, realizing that some battles were beyond our control. It was a challenging day, and Arvind asked, 'Should we pick up another patient?' I replied, 'Today, we've had our share of doses. Let's call it a day, my friend.
view postInitially offering him a new T-shirt, Amar's refusal, and preference for his begging attire, left a thought-provoking impression. Repeated encounters on the train led to conversations about how he could improve his life. However, Amar's belief in his helplessness seemed unshakable. One day, an offer of financial help in exchange for leaving begging behind was made, but Amar remained silent. Afterward, he disappeared from the train for some time. On October 6th, he reappeared at the Raipur platform bridge. Rather than resuming the cycle of begging, this time Amar was offered guidance and support in finding employment. The story of Amar Yadav reflects the plight of countless individuals trapped in begging due to habits and circumstances. The responsibility lies with all of us to change this narrative. Instead of simply giving alms, we can inspire hope, provide guidance, and create opportunities for those in need. Amar's journey from begging to newfound hope is a testament to the transformative power of compassion and belief in the potential of every individual. Listening to his desire to work, Sumit Foundation provided him with means of livelihood and to lead his life with dignity and pride.

view postMoved by Sania's plight, a selfless group called the Sumit Foundation initiated a mission to gather financial assistance for her kidney transplant. Support poured in from all corners, reflecting the unity and compassion of the community. Initially planned for an out-of-state transplant, the director of Shri Balaji Hospital in Raipur, Mr. Devendra Nayak, stepped forward, vowing to conduct the transplant in Raipur itself. The community rallied around, offering kidneys and hope to Sania. Yet, the pressing issue remains that Chhattisgarh lacks a government hospital equipped for major organ transplants, and there are no rules or laws governing organ donation. The absence of these vital regulations has left thousands like Sania teetering on the brink of life and death. The narrator's heartfelt plea extends to the Prime Minister, seeking intervention to prompt the Chhattisgarh state government to grant special permission for Sania's case and to instruct the Health Ministry to urgently formulate organ donation rules. A positive action from the government could save countless lives and bring hope to those who have none.

In our conversation, she revealed that family disputes had led to their eviction from their home, forcing them to sleep on the unforgiving streets. What struck me most was the determination in her eyes—a gleam of hard work, not helplessness. I made a promise and bought the items she had crafted. What struck me most was the determination in her eyes—a gleam of hard work, not helplessness. I made a promise and bought the items she had crafted. With my brother Sumit Ghosh, I visited the Municipal Corporation office, seeking assistance from "Atal Awas," a government initiative for the homeless. We're working to ensure they find shelter soon and secure the young girl's education. I visit this family daily, ensuring they face no undue hardships. Sumit and I buy more of their handcrafted items. This family's story teaches us to believe in our actions and ourselves, even when skies seem overcast.
